Launch of new Mortimer Country Walking Festival 2016
North Herefordshire’s Mortimer Country, is superb walking country, so local tourism group Mortimer Country …Ltd has put together a series of guided walks throughout the Summer. The guided walks offer local residents and visitors a chance to explore Mortimer Country’s outstanding historical and natural environment. APRIL
16th: Walk the Battle of Mortimers Cross. History and Walk 9.30 – 17.30. Famous for the sighting of Three Suns in the sky (a ‘parhelion’) this local War of the Roses Battle in February 1461 changed history for ever. MAY
7th: The Land Beneath Your Feet. Enjoy a guided geology walk with the Croft Castle geology champions. 10.00am Cost £5.00. To book contact: 01568 780 246.

JULY
9th: Forest Walk from Adforton, led by John Voysey. In aid of The Red Cross. Refreshments afterwards (soup and fruit pie). Meet Adforton Church Car Park 6.30 pm. Adults £5.00, children free. Stout footwear.
AUGUST
14th: Magnalonga – part of the Ludlow Food Festival. A mouth-watering food and drink walk for all the family. Starting and finishing in Ludlow, a leisurely journey combining a walk through unspoilt countryside with some of the best food and drink from the Marches. OCTOBER
31st: Tales of the Supernatural kind. Adults only evening ghost walk around Croft Castle. After your walk enjoy a two course light supper in the tea-room. £28.00 per person (including supper). To book contact: 01568 780 246.
